T.R. Senthil Kumar was born at the Temple City of Madurai on 21st June 1969 to late Sri. RAGHAVAN, Advocate and late Smt. Vathsala, Home Maker. 

Did schoolings at Madurai and Chennai and completed integrated 5 years B.A., B.L. degrees from Madurai Kamaraj University and enrolled as an Advocate in August 1994 at Bar Council of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry.

Started legal profession under the able guidance of Sri. M. Uttam Reddi, handling all types of Taxation matters from Aug’1994 to March 2004. Then started Independent Private Practice on Taxation, Constitutional, Civil, Company, Service laws, Consumer, Arbitration, etc. and Specialization on Direct Taxes, Indirect Taxes and Service matters.

Appointed as Senior Standing Counsel for Customs, Excise and Service Tax Departments in the first Panel during Dec’2008 to Nov’2012 and again as Senior Standing Counsel for Customs, Excise, CGST Departments November 2018.

Appointed as Junior Standing Counsel for Income Tax Department in August 2010 and promoted as Senior Standing Counsel in January 2014 at the Chartered High Court of Madras, Tamil Nadu and continued till the appointment as Judicial Member of ITAT.

As a Senior Standing Counsel for Income Tax Department effectively defended the cases on behalf of the Revenue and about 450 judgements are reported in reputed Law Journals, Law Weeklies, High Court web site [judis] and various law online portals. Department success rate was 45%.

Held the post of Executive Member of Revenue Bar Association under the Chairmanship of  Mr. Arvind P Dattar, Senior Advocate, during 2006-07.

Worked as a Student JOURNALIST of Famous Tamil Weeklies namely Ananda Vikatan, Junior Vikatan & Junior Post for two years and was awarded Distinction Certificate in the year 1989.  

Made blood donations a few times and was actively involved in Public Activities.
